Sometimes loved ones die, and we wonder why. We believe for a miracle or we expected a different outcome and the situation seems to be grim. Or your life doesn’t go the way you wanted it to, so you stay where you are and settle even when the Lord tells you to move on. Or maybe you are in a lifestyle that you know is destroying you, especially spiritually, but feel hopeless to walk out of the burning flames of a crooked desire.
There are multiple examples, but as believers this physical side of creation is but a faint whisper compared to how alive the spiritual side is. Despite our journey through this life, we need to be reminded sometimes that at some point we face physical death or we face spiritual death. It could be a loved one or you. For example, I faced watching my mother slowly die of cancer, but then later on in life I had to die spiritually to addictions and old ways of thinking to grow in my relationship in Jesus Christ. It can be painful either way but we have the Lord with us and no matter what we face. He will provide just what we need to get us to that place that glorifies Him.
Shadrach, Meshach, Abednego were not super heroes from a comic. They were human beings with a spiritual side just like you. They endured to the end even if it meant death. Then miraculously, Jesus appeared amongst them and walked them out of the fire. It was a miracle. (Daniel 3:16-28)
So, no matter what you are facing in this life, what is your response going to be when the flames are raging, there seems to be no hope, and the temptation to give up and give in is high?! Will you trust Christ to the other side?
